On this day at the end of the year,
I sit.
I wait.
I listen.
I watch and pray.
Will God determine that this is the year for rejoicing, for sorrow, for fear and trembling? Will it be different for each of us?
Will this be the year that we see the beginning of the tribulation? Are we already in the beginning of the tribulation? Will we recognize it? Will our children recognize it? Will our grandchildren recognize it?
Will we notice the rumblings? The events? Will things start to line up more closely in scripture? Will You show us how we can prepare the following generations? Will we see an outpouring of Your Grace on all of your children?
These are the things I ponder at the end of the year. Some, I already know or know what to do about. If, like me, you are a believer, you know God’s Word has and is the key. His presence in my life guides me through His words and bring comfort, wisdom, strength, discernment, patience, love, kindness, self-control, peace, rest.
If you are not a believer, may I suggest thet you find a Bible; read about the things Christians talk about so you can be knowledgeable even if you don’t believe what we are saying. Read the book of John first. Then go back to the beginning and as the pieces fall into place, may God grant that your eyes be opened and your heart softened to the message He wants you to hear. He wants a relationship with you, with me, with all of us.
My prayer for all of us is that we reap the benefits His Word offers, that we will truly come to terms with the knowledge that Jesus took care of every debt we owe, and that by His Blood we gain access to the Father and accept the hand of the Holy Spirit as He guides, leads, and teaches us. That we will reach out for His hand of comfort and protection and truly trust Him to our last breath. Of course, if you do not believe in Jesus or if you know nothing about Jesus, God or the Holy Spirit then what I just wrote above will not make sense. But, if you are curious about what we believe then, as I said, the Gospel of John is a good place to start- even if it’s not the beginning of the Bible.
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. John 1:1-4
