He leads me to see His gifts

I made a trip recently across the pond and wandered through the big city and the small town. Walked a path by a river and paused, refreshed by the movement and the silence at the same time. Sat in a small, quiet church on a weekday morning that was filled with God and me.

Went across a meadow, found flowers and weeds and bees and a green grassy swath cut through the middle just for exploring.  Woke to fog and sun and cloud and blue skies for days and days. Each one a gift, each gift holding a gift inside made only by The Grand Artist who knows what kind of beauty touches my heart and gives to me the gifts that speak the language of my heart that only He knows.

I’d like to share a bit of the gifts from there with you; after all He made the first garden, the first tree, the first bud of a budding plant, the first fruit that fed and nourished our souls and eyes as well. We have only the damaged remnants of His original designs, but even pale representations show His artistry at work.

The old English word for swath meant footprint. Indeed, I left my own footprint there while following the beauty that is His footprint. When we follow where He leads, we see the beauty He intended for us. It is truly Good.

Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.Ge nesis 1:11-12
