\nDECEMBER DESPAIR AND THE HOPE HE BRINGS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Somewhere in the world tonight\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A mother’s lost her baby \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A husband’s lost his wife\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A child has lost her brother<\/span><\/p>\n

A young man has lost his life<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How can it be?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These things that cause such grief?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I pray You, Lord, look down and see our poverty\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I pray You, Lord, reach down and relieve our helpless misery\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our hope, it seems,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Is in wishing for what is not and what never could be\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How unrealistic and heavy this vision sits<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>It burdens our hearts and blinds our sight\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It keeps us far from morning’s light<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Where Hope springs-<\/span><\/p>\n

Alive\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Eternal\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Abiding\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through all this pain<\/span><\/p>\n

In Love’s Strong Hand\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our souls’ best hope resides in You\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We cannot know the fullness of Your own great plan<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, fully know the comfort in Your nail-scarred hand\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We all may grieve a loss today<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But the ransom’s paid\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are redeemed<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Our time on earth\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0brief.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lord.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You are faithful<\/span><\/p>\n

You hold us close<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When all we see is dark, unending night\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When we question all that is,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All that You are,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All we’ve ever known and thought-<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When we only know our spirits will soon depart<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0And all our plans will come to naught*<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When finding only dark despair,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We grieve and grieve in the depths of sorrow\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Until we see at last<\/span><\/p>\n

You are the Strength of our heart\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Refuge and our Hope,\u00a0our Portion Forever**<\/span><\/p>\n
